"Eind oktober 1942 was er luchtalarm ... Op het nepvliegveld hebben we de lichtbakens aangezet en de vliegtuigen verplaatst ... We hadden daar ongeveer 10 nepvliegtuigen gemaakt met hout, stof en koorden ... Na het 'bombardement' lagen er 6 à 10 bommen met als opschrift ‘Wood for Wood” of Hout voor Hout”... Ik zou graag proosten met de Amerikaanse of Engelse piloot … die deze houten bommen toen heeft gedropt !" Werner Thiel.

"Fin octobre 1942, il y eut une alerte générale ... Nous avons activé les balises lumineuses et déplacé les appareils de l’aérodrome fictif ... Nous avions là une dizaine de faux avions, faits de bois contreplaqué, de toile et de corde ... Après le 'bombardement' il y avait 6 à 10 bombes sur lesquelles était inscrit ‘Wood for Wood’ ... J’aimerais trinquer avec le pilote anglais ou américain … qui a lâché sur moi ces bombes en bois !" Werner Thiel
